The current economic crisis has impacted Jarvie significantly. Along with many other organizations, Jarvie has had to face declining revenue due to the considerable reduction of the Service’s endowment. This has created a challenge in fulfilling our mission and funding all our programs. Jarvie’s leadership has had to set priorities in terms of determining what initiatives can continue in light of diminished resources.
To ensure Jarvie’s ability to fulfill its core mission the Jarvie Commonweal Service Committee (JCSC), Jarvie’s governing body, determined at its March 2009 meeting that the grave realities of the current financial situation dictated the temporary suspension of the Grants to Organizations Program (GTO) for three years, effective immediately.
This decision was undertaken after much serious reflection and discussion as an unfortunate but essential step to ensure that Jarvie can fulfill its core mission and commitments to the older individuals supported by the Individual Service Program. The JCSC will review this decision each time it meets, which is three times a year, and may decide to decrease or increase the length of time that the Grants to Organizations Program is suspended depending upon the status of the economy and the strength of Jarvie’s financial situation.
Jarvie staff will periodically update this posting to let potential applicants for organizational grants know about the current status of the GTO Program.
